English Writing Workshop
GE5W (5 hrs p/week)

Hours per week including breaks: 5 in one-to-one or small-group sessions after lunch

Required language level: Upper Intermediate or Above

Certain students who have already achieved a high level of overall proficiency in all four skills of English language may wish to enrol in this course. This course provides learners with an opportunity to fine-tune their writing skills. The negotiated syllabus reflects the individual student's needs and covers various features of writing including: style and register, formal versus informal writing, paragraph development, topic sentences, linking devices, coherence and cohesion, analysis of text types, note-taking skills and recognising fact versus opinion or bias. Classes are taught by a senior member of the teaching staff on
a one-to-one basis or in small groups of two or three students.
